Challenge

FLSmidth's quotation processes are built on a combination of engineering data and commercial logic. This knowledge used to sit scattered across systems, employees and manual workflows, which made the quotation work hard to scale and keep consistent.

At the same time, the existing data model was not suited to rule-based configuration. That meant a risk of differing outputs, long turnaround times and a high manual resource consumption – and the quality of the quotations came to depend on the key employees who knew both the engineering and the business.

Capacit rebuilt and standardised the data model, so quoting could run on structured data and clear rules instead of expert judgement.
